Welcome at the “Online Self Study Course”
This course is the result of a close cooperation between the different partners of the IoT Academy. The Marvin, the board inside the IoT Education kit, is developed by Dent, one of the hardware partners. The IoT Platform is provided by SoftwareAG and KPN has supplied us with specially configured LoRa-keys with which testing and learning is much easier.
We have a Dutch and an English version of the course. The Dutch version consists of four lessons through video’s. The English version is a text-based program you can follow. Just go to the tab “English course” and follow the instructions. The rest of this introduction will be in Dutch. We wish you a pleasant and rich learning experience through our course.
Het nederlandstalig deel van de cursus is opgedeeld in 4 onderdelen:
1 – In deel 1 maak je kennis met IoT in het algemeen en met het cumulocity platform van SoftwareAG. Je connect je telefoon aan het platform en krijgt op die manier de basics van IoT mee.
2 – In deel 2 gaan we de kit gebruiken: we pakken deze uit en sluiten de eerste sensors aan. Vanuit het platform downloaden we de code voor jouw Marvin en die zet je met behulp van je computer op jouw Marvin. Je hebt nu je eerste IoT sensor ingesteld.
3 – In deel 3 gaan we bezig met de data op het IoT platform Cumulocity: je bouwt dashboards waarmee je de data inzichtelijk maakt.
4 – Tot slot voegen we in stap 4 de echte magic toe: daar stellen we alarmen in, zodat bij overschrijding van een grenswaarde een actie uitgevoerd wordt. Door deze acties in te stellen passen we de echte waarde van IoT toe.
Elk deel heeft een eigen filmpje waarin je door onze docent Niels Stamhuis stap voor stap door het proces geleid wordt. Je kunt het filmpje op ieder gewenst moment pauzeren. Zo kun je de cursus geheel op eigen tempo en in je eigen tijd doen.
Als je vastloopt kun je via het formulier op het laatste tabblad onze hulp inschakelen. Op werkdagen proberen we binnen een uur te reageren, maar dat lukt helaas niet altijd.

Tot slot voegen we in stap 4 de echte magic toe: daar stellen we alarmen in, zodat bij overschrijding van een grenswaarde een actie uitgevoerd wordt. Door deze acties in te stellen passen we de echte waarde van IoT toe.

The English version of the course
The English version of the course is a text based program you can follow inside the IoT platform by SoftwareAG. Just follow the steps below to get started.
Go to the Cumulocity IoT Platform:

Username: your emailaddress (case-sensitive!)
Password: click on “Forgot password?” to set one
Click on the “app switcher”, the 9 dots in the upper right corner of the screen.
Click on “IoTep” (IoT Education Package)
Follow the instructions on the screen.
